I read somewhere that if you want to switch to Octopus they like you to pay beforehand a sum of money to the new account to give you a credit is that true? (Sorry to jump on your topic)

I switched yo 🐙 in April. The information I was given said it would take a dd a few days later and then normally dd would come out on 28th of month. Which was 2 weeks later. This was to make sure that the account stays in credit. The first payment never with out x

Yes, but remember this is now of the cheapest times of year.

Next winter's costs not predicted to be any cheaper than last year so good to try and build up a bit of credit as it'll be an expensive winter again.

Your payment is pending once cleared you will be in credit. It is frustrating how long that sometimes takes.

Yes you should now be in credit, you can lower your DD on your app/account but I would highly recommend you keep your DD higher so as to buffer you in winter, I pay 150 all year round, even when they tried to increase my DD I just went back into my app and decreased it back as long as your DD stil covers your usage.

Your payment of £141 is still pending and should be credited to your account after 02 Jun 2023 as shown in your screenshot.

Do Octopus supply your gas as well, if so, have you taken this cost into account? Also, does your first bill cover the total period that you have been with Octopus. Finally, check the readings to make sure they are accurate and not estimated.

Purpose of setting ot higher than your summer bills is so that you have credit in winter when we use far more energy.
