I have no idea where to begin. My cats eye was removed for no reason. I have tons of paper work and all sorts of proof.
But i don’t know where to find a laywer to help me with holding the people accountable.
I’m from Indiana.
Any help or advice is SO appreciated.
Does anyone have any recommendations for animal medical malpractice laywer’s?
I'm so sorry. I would make sure I had all records sent over, and have another vet review them so they can be sure of exactly what happened before moving forward.
Are you fostering through the shelter? Shelters usually don't just provide medical care unless they're the legal owner and you're fostering. Could be a situation I'm not familiar with though.
Interesting. By law, it is required to get client authorization for any surgery to be done to a pet and signature and date before the procedure. Can’t imagine a vet not doing so.
Because animals are considered property according to the law, you'll probably want an attorney who specializes in property damage. You will likely have better luck posting on your local pages since this group is international.
If you truly feel malpractice has been done, you can also contact the state licensing board for veterinarians.

I would double check any paperwork signed and see if you can get copies of any documentation that you did sign because you may have signed something agreeing to said procedure without realizing it.
I had a vet almost kill our bunny and tried so hard to get help and in the end the cost outweighed everything else. I would however suggest reporting the vet to the veterinary board of medicine for your state and submitting your proof, it’s a good place to start for accountability.
Good luck
