Good evening- just looking for some advice…

Being 22 weeks pregnant, I have been looking after the schools rescue rabbit for over a month now and have had no issues so far.

Since growing a strong bond, her settling into my home and her getting more confident with my partner and I - as a house bunny - I have been told I am to no longer have her due to LMVC risk.

Looking for advice on this, anything I can educate them with as I have done mass amounts of research and I want to show them all the facts. Where I understand it’s in my best interest, our bunny would be placed outside, alone in an unfamiliar household and I just cannot bare the thought of it!

LMVC: From what I’ve read, it’s a rare disease that effects 2%-5% of people, and is found in urine/poo. I’ve read that it can only be caught if you are clearing the cage but this may be wrong… like you I have only just heard this being a risk and I feel as though the school are doing this to me out of spite due to recent occurrences.

Thanks in advance..

Nonsense, I live on a farm & have cats, dogs, hamster, cows, pigs, goats, chicken & I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant. As long as you wash you hands regularly after handling & cleaning them out your be fine x

LCMV if that’s what you mean is normally caught from rodents like house mice and hamsters. The 2-5% is quoted because of that, not because of rabbits

That's what people said about my cats! I ignored them, my mum never had any problems with any of the 4 of us and I didn't have any problems with my 2. If you can get your partner to clean them out for then great but there was no way mine would have! Good luck my lovely

People told me the same thing about my cats, but I just had to make my husband clean out the litter box since it was too much of a risk for me since I was already having a high risk pregnancy. One of my kitties even snuggled on my belly pretty much every night and I had no issues 🫶🏽 at least not on THAT tip. The issues I had were due to my small uterus..
