.. change tile flooring, toilet, shower, screen, vanity, basically everything. I would like to have an idea of how much would basic reno would costs me for all these changes and estimate cost for labor.

I'm a first time home owner and would need a lot of help esp with budgeting.

Thanks in advance!

It's in really good nick from what I can tell. You could change the tile above vanity (do it yourself.. not hard) and then like others have suggested, a hanging plant, a colourful print from KMart or Ikea, and if you loathe the vanity, you could splash out on one.

I'm currently doing my ensuite and main bath.
I did all the demo myself.
I purchased vanities cheap online ($450 each) and assembled myself.
I purchased back to wall toilets from Bunnings ($300 each)
I purchased 16m2 floor tiles for $900. I still need to purchase basic white wall tiles (estimate $300).
Waterproofing $450
Plasterer $550
Plumber (replace toilets x 2 and vanities x 2) $1200
Tiler to lay all tiles ($1800).
I'm recycling my shower screen.
Will need to paint.
So approx $7000 to update both bathrooms by doing as much myself and paying cash for tradies.

Bathrooms and kitchens-most expensive.

Personally, I’d put 20k into paying off your mortgage. A small change could be pulling off mirror and putting up an antique oval mirror. paint over tile currently under mirror and even paint your vanity & give it new hardware-painting is relatively cheap and you would be capable of doing that yourself👍👌you’d be surprised how big a difference all that would make.

My small Reno (smaller than yours) cost me $18k for all trades. (excluding hardware, tiles, cabinetry).

In today's market you would need$15-20k.. given that there isn't really anything wrong with the ensuite, just decide whether you have a spare $20k just to make it look nice to you, or spend it elsewhere in the house.

Me personally- I feel you could make it look better without gutting and redoing, maybe just change the tiles above vanity, get a different mirror, maybe even change the vanity if you want, get a hanging plant. I can't justify a full gut on something that is fine.

Ain’t gonna be a basic renno! That’s basically a full reno just minus changing where the plumbing is it sounds! God knows the price in this current environment. Probably about $25-$35K if you don’t go too expensive on materials but don’t do any of it yourself either?

Ps. I hate my newly renovated bathroom (by previous owners) in my place but I spent the money on renovating all the other much older stuff. It’s been worth it. It’s not my forever home and the bathroom which looked like yours, was perfectly fine for sale value in the next five to ten years (and perfectly fine as a rental if I switch to that).

Assess your needs from the house. Unless it’s your forever home or it’s broken, it’s probably more worth doing other things with your money.

As a tip, I got a huge, cheap artwork from Kmart of a banksia flower and hung it on the wall. I got timber shelves that gave the space some warmth and put nice colourful boxes on it with stuff in them. I got sticky temporary tiles from Kmart to cover my ugly feature tiles on the wall and backsplash (they’re not perfect but it’s better than the ugly black feature tiles that were there), and I changed the light to be a bit warmer. And I have nice, colourful towels and a rug from Kmart All cheap fixes and make it much nicer to be in for the time being.

Honestly I freaks me out to say this but I’d be budgeting $20k even though it’s a small room. Crazy but you’re doing a full demo. Keep things where they are so you don’t have extra plumbing costs. You might be lucky though with a smaller space. You can get leftover tiles from bigger projects on marketplace or end of line specials at tile shops. Often people change their mind or measure incorrectly on fixtures and fittings so check marketplace regularly. There will also be end of financial year sales on too. Might be a few bargains.

Good luck!

Ask any questions here. We were all Reno rookies once. Also, YouTube is great for learning new skills. You can do more than you think yourself. Lastly do the demo yourself if you can and hire a skip bin. My friends can’t wait to demo my bathroom in a couple of months. Host a BBQ and put on the drinks (for after the demo 🤪) and make a day of it!

Reno cost depends labour and materials you use. Labour cost changes according to the location. Materials depends on the quality and design. In Sydney, depending on the size, you can get a bathroom reno done for $20k with Bunnings fittings, $30K with Reece fittings and $40K+ with high-end fittings. There are also import companies you can get high end materials for cheaper but the downturn is, you have to wait.

Good luck
