My husband's first wife passed away 20 years ago this summer, and pansies were her favorite flower.
Our greenhouse and garden are located where their house once stood (we built a new home and expanded the property when we married).
I have never planted pansies, nor have I had any hanging pots with them, but this spring we are delighted that somehow a volunteer pansy has found its way to a corner of the greenhouse.
My husband said that spot is right where their front porch and door used to be.
Pretty cool, I think.
I have never planted pansies - Pretty cool
Great honor to his past and to your continued future. Well done both of you. Cheers to her for sharing him with you.
So gracious of you to note this. Your love for your husband and his former wife is beautiful.
It’s beautiful, but the story is more beautiful. I think she’s sending down some love for you all.
Each year since my dad passed away in 92 I plant some sort of white flower. My hubby & I built our house & moved here in 2014. Our very first summer we had TONS of white violas under our front porch. We had never planted anything. I'm pretty sure it was my dad's way of saying he was proud of me for FINALLY getting my very own house at 46 years old
The violas have never returned.
The violas have never returned.
My grandparents house burned down in the late 50’s and they rebuilt in the same spot. In the early 2000’s they had to have their septic dug up, and that year red poppies with a thin blue line across each petal grew in the dug up soil. She had grown those at their original house over 50 years before! It’s absolutely amazing how long seeds can be preserved in the right conditions.
