This photo of my dad was taken on the Friday of our trip to Cuba in July of 2010. It was the first time that my sister and I went to see my dad's side of the family as he mentioned us to them at every conversation. At this point, he hadn't been back to Cuba since 1995. It was an eventful week getting to see Havana and catch up with our relatives. We went out to the eastern beach of Guanabo that day. It was blue skies and crystal clear waters, but it rained later that day. I learned that the Caribbean sun is strong as I was sun tanned and sun burnt at day's end. This trip almost didn't happen but I'll always be grateful to have done it.

I don't have pics, but my parents took me to Japan and the Philippines when I was 18 mos! They brought along a wooden port-a-crib and cloth diapers. I cant begin to imagine.
