I had booked a house for my parents 40th at Lake Tahoe for 2 nights. I booked it under my account and they cancelled it because I wasn’t the actual guest, understandable. So I then made my mom an account and booked it under her. They denied the stay because my parents had never used Airbnb before. What the heck?!
So I’m upset because it was a gift to them and now it’s ruined, I can’t find anything else as nice with a great view at that price. I was paying $450 for a two night stay with fees included.
Does anyone have any hotel recommendations on the Nevada side of Tahoe?
Looking for the second week of July.
Thanks!
I’m beyond frustrated with Airbnb
South Lake Tahoe, The Edgewood Hotel. One of the best in Tahoe, it's pricey but for their 40th anniversary, it's beautiful and the hotel has a private beach. Or else just book a casino hotel room, there's always gaming and entertainment, casino hotels are relatively cheap.
Do a Google search. I know my brother sold time shares up there once upon a time at the resorts. From what I am understanding from him now that they rent those time shares out now for vacations, and they are not timeshares anymore. There are many of them.
I’m so sorry this happened to you! If you can find a property you like that is available on ABB or VRBO and are trying to find a lower cost, try googling the name to see if they have direct booking or look on Google maps to see if you can find direct contact for the host. We rent our properties and accept 1st time guests but don’t have anything in that area. You also might look to see if there are any local rental management agencies that can help you.
Did you message the host? I have accepted guests who were booking for a family member. I also have accepted guests without reviews if they message me and I feel comfortable.
I never did first time renters either, personally it was too much risk without a history or reviews.
Their terms of service say you can’t book for family or friends if you are not staying, and then they didn’t want to book to a new account because its sketchy. Understandable.
Harveys/Harrah's casinos have hotels right on the state line on South Shore Tahoe. If you're looking midweek you should be able to find lake view rooms in your price range. (Cheaper without view).
Heavenly ski resort is right there (they have two Marriott properties that might be worth looking into, but it's California side) giving alternate dining and shopping options at Heavenly village, possibly a Gondola ride as well.

Sunnyside is the best. I lived in the area for years and my family always stayed there when they came to visit. Good continental breakfast, on the water, good restaurant, market next door etc
