Hello, please can I have some guidance?

I'm selling my home and I couldn't do the viewing, so the estate agent did it. They couldn't get into the garage door from the property,  so they must have forced entry! I expect the buyer might have also tired too...

Now, my garage door won't open because the chamber has moved inside. The key won't go in to the lock. The estates agent didn't even call me or tell the buyer "we are unable to get into the garage". They must have locked the garage, which I'm not too sure how.

I am absolutely infuriated because of the lack of care and communication of the issue. I only found out when I get home this evening after work.

What are my rights? I am over reacting? My garage has my white goods & DIY tools which I cannot access....grr!!

If you have thus on CCTV definitely get the estate agent to pay for repair.

It sounds to me like they were trying to open the door but couldn’t and have damaged the mechanism.

Also they could be unaware that they have damaged the lock hence the lack of communication You can’t be sure that they gained entry or that the buyer tried to open it either.

I would speak to whoever is dealing with the sale this morning.

They will send someone out to fix it.

I don’t think you are over reacting but you are jumping to conclusions a little.

Ring them speak 4o the person who did the showing.....don't tell them why you want to speak to them....and the second they are the phone say why did you damage my door? Nothing els if they say I couldn't get in ... the they pay for it ...as it's criminal damage and if they don't pay for it you call the police and have them done for criminal damage.

Are you absolutely sure about this? "They must have" is your assumption, and understandably so, but unless you have proof they did the damage you are on dodgy ground making assumptions. Are there any neighbours who saw the viewers and EA at your property or is there any CCTV available from neighbouring cameras? If you didn't give the estate agent a garage key, it's highly unlikely they would have forced it, they would ask for a key and if interested the viewer would come back to view the garage. If you are unhappy change agents but be careful making accusations you can't substantiate

For all those saying get police involved it's not a police matter. There is no crime permission was given for them to enter the house its a civil matter only…

I came home to my front door wide open at 11 pm. Drinks spilled on the floor, and someone was on my bed. Fired her immediately.
