The lady I talked to asked for a copy of my tenancy agreement? Never had that through the multiple suppliers I’ve had. Is this normal please?

Just to be certain you're not the peson that'left' leaving a big debt. Make sue (in writing) that there is no debt allocated to you!

In general no. They don’t need to ask. But let’s say they have no account set up for a while or a large debt balance they want to make sure it’s assigned correctly so they may ask for a TA

Yes, it proves the date you took over the supply. Some people take a few days/weeks to ring to set up their supply, but it allows them to correctly bill the landlord for the void period between tenancies.

Was the property empty for a while before you moved in? Is there a smart meter? Maybe they just need to compare the meter reading to the start date of your tenancy. I am sure my daughter had to prove when she moved in to her house.

My ex partner moved to her place last April and she was asked for a copy. I believe it’s to prove you aren’t the previous tenant just trying to wipe off debt.
