I bought something off of someone on Facebook. (Not through marketplace but privately through messenger)

The first purchase went really well. I transferred the money into her bank and she posted out the items next day.

The second time I doubled my order and she kept the money and never sent the items.

I have all the messages and excuses of why she can't send me back my hundred pounds (she's in hospital, her cousin died etc etc)

What can I do to get my money back if anything?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Ring your bank, they may be able to do something.

This happened to my wife last week. Reported it to her bank as a dispute and they refunded her within a day even though she paid via PayPal

Contact bank and report as a fraudulent transaction as in you sent funds but seller commuted fraud and didn’t sent items

This has happened to me recently. I paid via PayPal but via friends and family option so they wouldn’t get hit with a fee (lesson learned!)

I’ve been trying to request a refund and report them via PayPal but it doesn’t seem to give me that option - I assume because it’s been a F&F payment

Depends on how you paid. If you paid by PayPal goods and services which I doubt you'll get your money back. If it was any other way you've pretty much said goodbye to that money x

Please in future do not pay bank. PayPal goods and you are protected.

I was same bought many items 18 months ago never received. Had received first couple of items so you start to trust. Then multiple excuses. Changing Facebook pages then blocking saying my daughter who messaged was aggressive and she wouldn’t tolerate. Said would be do replacement items then would be refunding. Have messaged over and over and now no way to contact her. All paid by bank transfer and was told nothing I could do. It’s theft! You buy item and don’t receive goods. I don’t know how they can get away with it.

I’m waiting on a refund from someone back from Feb! Paid through BACS as don’t have PayPal but she didn't either as what I was buying from them, was like you through messenger, but it never arrived in the post and she couldn’t find the postal receipt. Said she would refund me. I message her every week to 10 days asking where it is. I’ve had things said, don’t want to use the word excuses, but to me that £40 is a lot and I haven’t got what I was buying from her! any advice greatly welcome!

Also, check out: Decided to move banks after being targeted by scammers for the 2nd time in a month with NatWest!
