Booked a flight from London to Bangkok.. any tips?

Hey everyone.. Booked a flight from London to Bangkok on 9th January hoping to go for a few months

Thinking of doing the north of Thailand through to Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and then back down to the south of Thailand.

Just wondering if there is anyone else going around the same time or any travel tips for that time of year?

Also any social hostels along that route?
