Initially, we were planning to remove stain glass, to allow more natural light, and paint the ceiling white.
It's a small house, so we're trying to create the feeling of more space.
But, as we've been living in it, we have become more attached to the unique details.
Currently living in the house, but plan to renovate and sell. Just looking to get a sense of the market.
To paint or not to paint? Looking for suggestions on both the ceiling and the stain glass
Leave ceiling timber, paint everything else white. New black fan, and replace lead light to let more light in.
Those stained glass windows should go as very dated in a home that was built after federation.
Personally, I think stained glass looks twee in anywhere other than Victorian homes and pre 20th century churches. I'd also paint the ceiling and everything else white. It will totally breath new life into your space.

I was gonna paint/ limewash my ceiling 10 years ago when I moved in! Got quotes but Never got to it, and glad I haven’t. Done bathroom and kitchen and lots of other stuff. Medium- Large house but the high ceilings make it feel so much larger! I love them and have installed black metal fans it looks awesome imo, and hides the dust webs being darker and multi coloured. I figured people were paying to have timber installed, why cover it! Next owner can choose for themselves!
