CANARY ISLANDS Advice? – I am traveling to the Canary Islands in November for around 6 days. We plan to spend some time in Tenerife, and would like to visit one other island.
Looking for suggestions on picking between La Gomera, La Palma and Gran Canaria.
Also curious on recommendations of what parts of Tenerife, and the other islands, are best to stay in. We don't want to be in areas that are super touristy, and would prefer smaller hotels as opposed to big resorts. Smaller areas near beaches would be great.
Thank you!

I loved Tenerife outside the tourist (Brit, German, area on the south side)
Def plan to rent a car.
I loved the drive up to the volcano and the funicular up. If you want to hike up further you need a permit. Get that NOW. I got it in adv but it was still icy at the peak so couldn’t do the hike. (Mid march)
Food wise though, I was very underwhelmed but I was also just in mainland Spain so that probably spoiled me.
Th3 black sand beaches were so cool.

I’ve been to both Tenerife and Gran Canaria!
I went to Tenerife in February 2020 right before Covid. I stayed in El Medano which is a small town on the south coast. I enjoyed staying there because it had a more authentic, Spanish atmosphere compared to the resort towns on that side of the island. It’s small, walkable, and next to the longest beach on the island. Beware, it gets windy!
In Gran Canaria, I stayed in the capital of Las Palmas right along Playa de las Canteras. While it is urban and full of tourists, it is an actual city and not a resort like those on the island’s south coast.
Tip: for warmer, sunnier weather the south coasts of both islands are the places to stay!

Gran Canaria we spent 5 days during late November at maspalomas in the south as we were chasing warm temps. During November the tourists are gone except for some Europeans(mostly German) on holiday and locals so being in the dune area was quite isolating. Loved driving around the southern areas trying to find the best salt mound fish. You can island hop if you think you want to see different landscapes.

Avoid Playa de las Americas. We enjoyed Santa Cruz de Tenerife & Puerto de la Cruz.
For only 6 days, I'd stick to one island.
