Hi all! I'm looking to travel from the UK and spend New Year at the Full Moon/New Year Party in Koh Phangan. What's the best route flying from the UK. I will then be travelling for the forseeable, so any advice would be appreciated!

Into Bangkok, then fly to either Surat Thani, or Ko Samui and then ferry from either.

Fly to Bangkok and then you can either:
  1. Fly down to Samui and get a ferry to Koh Phangan.
  2. Overnight train from Bang Sue Station to Surat Thani and then bus and ferry transfer to Phangan.
  3. Bus down to Surat Thani and then ferry transfer to Koh Phangan - look at Lomprayah as they do this full trip.
Make sure you book in advance as all the routes will be busy over this period and be aware that the weather is not always the best at this time of year and sea conditions can be a bit rough.

Flying into Phuket and then with the ferry from Surat Thani seems to be the best option.

Fly to Bangkok; overnight train to Chumphon (£13 in a seat or £20-22 in a comfy sleeper); ferry to Ko Phangan (3-3:30hrs, £26). Have a great trip!
