If the carer is of pension age they don't qualify for carers allowance, the person to be cared for would have to claim attendance allowance and use that to pay the carer.

For a person to claim carers allowance, the cared for person needs to be in receipt of pip if under 65 or Attendance allowance if over 65.

Phone up careers premium explain circumstances they will tel you hun it’s carers money about £70 a week to care but you have to do it for at least 32 hrs also can only be earning a certain amount of money hope this helps also ask if you be able to apply for career allowance that will deffo help you can ask to be there appointee and be able to then do it all on behalf of them so much better Goodluck hun

Depends if the carer is claiming benefit or not but they do not have to claim carers allowance to get the caring element if they do providing the person. They look after gets the right benefits.
