  • Read a lot.
  • Write a lot.
  • Never ask for feedback from family or friends.
  • Tell your story from start to finish...
  • never edit as you go along.
  • Edit at the end.

Each writer develops their own methods. I take an idea and characters and start writing then let them take on the adventure. If they aren't talking to me, I go back and read and edit what has already been written. Some people plan their work. Before writing they make an outline. these are the characters, this is the setting, this happens there and that happens here and this is how it ends. They then go back and fill in the blanks to connect the dots. There are those who use a portion of both methods. Decide what works for you and start writing.
