My sweet dog Rayvin has been peeing frequently and longer times to pee, slow in stream, for the last month. I went to vet and they treated her for UTI, she was on amoxyclav for 10 days. 3 days after antibiotics, she was very needy, lethargic and just not herself.
She won’t lay down and she vomited her dinner, I took her to emergency and they said that, from her presentation and that her bp is elevated, they believe she have gastroenteritis, they gave her pain and anti nausea and sedation meds.
They told me that the meds should calm her down and get her to have a good rest but Should wear off after 6-9 hrs.
The next morning nearly 7-8hrs, she was unresponsive and highly lethargic.
I went to the vet and they admitted her.
She had all scans and bloods etc done. Also, done IV drips, pain patch and IV antibiotics.
Scans and bloods showed that she have pancreatitis.
Few days later, she came home with anti nausea meds which gets her really tired. But after the anti nausea meds. She’s back peeing frequently and longer pees again.
Got her back to vet, they done urinalysis resulted that she have huge amount of blood in urine, with negative culture in inflamed urine, and normal ultrasound results- no stones.
I’m about to book a specialist appt tomorrow. But has anyone had this concern with their fur fam? I have 3 dogs and 1 cat. And I always have Rayvin incharge of everyone when I go out for the day.
She’s an Irish terrier.
Why is my dog peeing long and slow?
have they tested for poisoning maybe she got into something sounds like she needs to be admitted for IV treatment and fluids and rest. I would insist on admission and oberservation.
all of the blood work and testing should have been done and diagnosed all in one shot, not give meds and call me in the morning type thing,, and all the other suggestions of poisoning, diabetes should have also been ruled out then too.. GEEZ! hope she's on the mend.
Having the same issues (almost) with my 9 year old English bulldog… was running in circles franticly last Wednesday morning I believe, really scared me. He was peeing drips, small short streams but still trying for more. Repeatedly. Went to the vet immediately, prescribed us clavamox for 14 days.. (he had a full blood work up in march, nothing of concern including a check for stones.) he actually threw up in the vets office, so she gave us a shot with cerenia to avoid the sickness. So a week later and he’s just not acting right.
Monday it looked like he was feeling better, antibiotics seemed to be working, he didn’t have any accidents in the house or his diaper, but yesterday (Tuesday) I feel like we went back 10 steps. He’s been panting all day, very lethargic, not following me to the kitchen at all (this is extremely weird for him) doesn’t want or
Go outside at all, and has peed in the house and his diaper (multiple times) today. He just isn’t acting right at all. Doesn’t want to really be around me or interact. I’m very concerned. I will call my vet tomorrow but.. let us know what the outcome is for your pup, I’m so worried. I feel so helpless and I hate knowing he doesn’t feel good.
Don't miss: Why is my dog peeing on my couch?
