I see a lot of your buns that lay over when they sleep and even close their eyes

I had 5 rabbits over the years and none laid over on their side to sleep and almost never closed their eyes.

Lol the amount of time I though my rabbit was dead because he sleeps almost legs up…I did hear they sleep like that when they are very comfortable

I think its a relaxed thing so if the bunny feels safe and relaxed it will happen.

Jon, it isn't necessarily while sleeping. More like just a totally relaxed mood. My Benny will flop like this for a while, then upright his head. He usually sleeps in an upright loaf or pancake position.

I'm sure there are others out there, but I've only ever known one that actually slept like that... And yes, he is sleeping in his litter tray. Went beside it, slept in it. He had the whole house, but that's where he chose to go to sleep.

Bon Bon closes his eyes to sleep when just the family is home. He loves to dramatize flop all the time.

Mine just relaxes with his eyes open but when he’s asleep he’s out cold, I have to tap to wake him! Some buns I’ve had just are more aware of their surroundings and don’t relax like this boy!

My buns flopped when they were younger but less now. We also recently got a rambunctious puppy and even though they're very safe from him and know it, they seem less relaxed and don't flop as much. Do your buns have a protected place they can go and feel a little safer maybe? Just throwing out ideas. I really want my buns to flop more too!

My Fluffy flops with her legs stretched out and she melts into the floor. My kids call it the melty flop -- most of the time though she sleeps in loaf position. I keep meaning to put a camera up to see what she gets up to when we aren't looking!

My buns rarely sleep with their eyes closed even when flopped out on their sides. Only when they are super exhausted from a day with more activities than usual. I always wondered how some buns go eyes closed and others will not.

Twiggy tries to flop, but she can't get herself to lie on her side lol I think she just doesn't like the idea of lying on her side so much, only the bottom half of her boddy ia ok to do so

Also, check out: One of my rabbits keeps pulling her fur out from under her belly and we have no idea why she I'd doing it!

Mine is exactly the same.. I've never seen his eyes close or him lay on his side. He does spread completely out to chill but eyes never close. He's a Neth. Dwarf.

I have several rabbits. Some I’ve never seen lie right over on their sides others are always lying in that position. I guess it depends on how comfortable they feel.

Don't forget to take a look at: Is it normal for rabbits to have dirty feet?

Our girl has only flopped once in 2 years and that was when I put a big piece of tile down on the carpet! She was in Heaven -- then our rescue baby has only flopped once in a year

Our first bunny never flopped. But I don't think he was healthy. We got him from a pet store and he died young. We also had young kids so our house was noisy almost all of the time. Now our kids are grown so the house is quiet (unless the dogs are barking) and our bunny flops and sleeps on his side all the time.

Did/does your bunnies "stretch out" on their tummies? because that's also a sign of a happy, content and relaxed bunny!

My bunnies all do the “flop” lol but for the adult rescues, it did take them some time to trust us. They have to be very comfortable in order to do that because naturally they are prey animals so are always cautious about everything.
