I am researching bunnies prior to getting one so I kind of have an idea of what to expect!
The one thing I keep hearing is how much work they are… can someone give me a run down of what daily and/or weekly items have to be done and how often.
At our house daily we feed, give treats, check water and hay. Twice a week we change their litter box. Weekly we do a whole room clean. You have to pay attention to them daily for their health and some want more affection.
Depends on what one means by "a lot" I suppose. They are regular routine work at least. Their routines don't take a ton of time usually. They will distract you any time they catch your eye though lol. And some need lots of attention.

Daily:
- Brushing
- Fresh water
- Frech veg
- Cleaning away their toys and checking them
- Cleaning the litter tray
- Mopping up any dirty spots and checking the bunnys room to make sure theirs no dangers (you do that as your Cleaning up generally)
- Deep Cleaning the room so removing their equipment mop/hoover the floor, scrub all their bowls, scrub their litter tray, check all the toys over individually for any damage.
- Thorough health check
- Checking every single electrical outlet around the house that the bun has any possible access too even if you think it's bunny proofed
- Shopping for fresh veg (this may even be needed twice a week as sometimes they have limited stock when you go)
- Nail clipping
- Trimming bum fur if you've a bunny that needs that.
- Shopping for feed and hay and toys.
I’m pretty ocd with my bunnies lol, they are indoor ones.
I clean their litter trays daily and spot clean them throughout the day when I’m not working for wee wees so they don’t end up laying of sitting in it.
I change their bedding every other day, if they’ve had a wee on it I change it sooner but they have recently been spayed so I’m hoping their litter habits get better, they are already showing a massive improvement but no matter what you’ll always find little poops everywhere lol.
Also, I find myself washing towels constantly because I have wooden floors and they aren’t the best for bunnies little feets so I lay towels and blankets down for them.
You will find yourself cleaning hay daily lol, it gets everywhere -- so get a good pet friendly vacuum or sweeping brush.
They are not an easy pet at all, I think probably most people don’t do these things that often but I’m paranoid because I found a fly lava in one of their beds a couple of months back and flies can cause fly strike which is deadly so I’m just extra extra careful now.
Daily, feeding topping up hay, water bowls. In the summer I put more water bowls out for them in case they knock one over and also because they can get really effected by heat.
And I’m constantly maintaining a clean environment, making sure no litter gets left around that they could get hold of and eat etc.

Feed daily. Mental stimulation daily. Play with human daily. Litterbox as often as needed (3-4 times a week). Vet at least yearly.
