I have this space between my lounge room and the kitchen.

I am thinking of perhaps putting a book shelf (see pix).

Do you think it’ll be too much/too busy?

Without seeing all its a little difficult. On what see with cabnets to left and Tv room to Right definitely to busy. Understand why you like. Perhaps a feature wall but in one colour with full wall blending into your kitchen doors. If shaker then use that style.

If the room is small I won’t put that buffet.

Can you continue the cabinetry from the kitchen to make a bookshelf/ storage to match without the ladder? It doesn’t have to be a deep as the kitchen but the bench top could match. Bearing in mind the restrictions building too close to fire place. Anyway just an idea. Some buffet to fill the space would look good.

With the wall recessed back slightly in the space you are talking about, I feel it is made for some type of cabinetry. I like your idea, it’s a personal choice, good luck choosing.

I think it would look lovely, maybe use the bottom for storage and the top for display like it is designed for.
