I was going to sand my floorboards but most ppl saying it's too hard to DIY and the cost is over 6k to get done professionally so I thought of hybrid floors instead. Cheaper and an easier DIY job. Would you agree?

Why would you lay plastic over beautiful wood floors?
I doubt it would be much cheaper and you’d have lovely floor boards instead.

We have tas oak floorboards they are beautiful and I'm currently trying to persuade my husband to not cover them in carpet or replace the hideous planks that are covering them. I want to sand them and keep them, but we've hit a snag and there's a huge concrete section in the lounge room with no boards and there's a dip in the dining room. So we may end up with planks.

The hard part is the sanding, maybe get a quote to just sand, and have a crack at doing the coating yourself? Go satin finish, it's more forgiving.

Floorboards to have sanded professionally isn’t that much….

If the floorboards are worth sanding I would keep it. Hybrids can be expensive to lay too especially if your floors are not level you will need to spend money levelling it. We laid hybrids over our pinefloors as the boards were fixed and repaired and was not great. I wouldn’t do hybrids again as some as lifted as our floors weren’t 100% levelled and to do so will incur a lot of different $
