Take the commuter rail up to Salem to see it - lots of history by there and a fun spot to visit.

Others have mentioned the Freedom Trail, which hits a lot of the historical highlights.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is beautiful, and there was a still unsolved art heist there that has been the subject of a Netflix documentary and a podcast if you’re into that kind of thing.

Not a baseball fan, but the Fenway tour was awesome. You can do it yourself (look for an app) or do a walking tour of the Freedom Trail. Stroll/eat in North End.

I did a ghost tour that was a lot of fun and interesting bc it actually had a lot of historical stories or the duck boat tour (which I thought would be cheesy, but it was fun).

Also, look at apps - so manu free walking/historical apps like SmartGuide and GPSmyCity. GuruWalks is a great free walking tour option too.

Useful: Direct flights from Boston

We did a whale watching tour that was fantastic. Also, the leaves might be starting to change. Boston is very walkable!

Try the glass flowers at Harvard Museum of Natural History. This is the only place in the world you can see this and it’s spectacular! Also, do not miss the Boston Public library - tour on your own or do a free art and architecture tour. Also try the mapparium at the Christian Science Center.

Explore these too: Going to Boston for the first time and staying at Marriott downtown for 4 nights. Any recommendations?

Check out the Omni Parker House Hotel; longest running open hotel (1927) in the US; home of the Parker House Roll recipe and Lemon Meringue Pie. Go downstairs and look at the wall of Saturday club poets/authors, etc. that met there (Emerson, Hawthorne, Longfellow and others). Also, has the bar where JFK proposed to Jackie. We stayed there and it was in walking distance to many of the historical sites.

The rooms were small since it is a historic hotel but updated and comfortable. We also enjoyed the tour of the city which pointed out many of the historic sites (many of which we were able to walk to).

Lots of history there.

We did a food tour by Secret Food Tours - awesome! One of the lesser know museums is the Isabella Stuart Gardner museum. Fascinating. Go into Mike's Pastry's and buy something yummy. You'll thank me later.
