.. I noticed that now that I have 0 balance, they reduced my availability credit from over £5,000 to £1,200. Is that normal?

It's not by any chance Barclays is it? I had £5000 on mine then cleared it never used for a while then they dropped it down to £200, I ripped card up x

My ex husband was a nightmare with credit cards. I vowed I wouldn’t have another. It’s sad that the financial system wants everyone to be in debt.

Yes, it because your not using it they have done it to lots people now because your not using it they don’t make money out u.

It's normal but it sucks especially if trying to build a good credit score because that sharp drop on total available credit limit has a negative impact.

I paid mine off a few yrs ago but didn't close the account. However, they haven't sent me a new card out and only had couple random e-mails about the provider. No idea if they closed it for me or if its still active.

Don't cancel your card, wait until they do. It can affect your credit rating.

If you don’t use it regularly- you don’t need it - live without it, credit card companies profit on interest and hope that this happens - some charge you for having the card on an annual basis.

I had a card that went up to 13k available. Once I cleared it I closed it but they put it down to 1.5k instead. Imagine giving someone 13k to spend on a credit card!!! It's mad.

Never had a balance lowered unless I’ve asked them too… always used them, brought my last two cars and then done balance transfers and then paid off before interest free was up!! Way cheaper than using car dealer ship credit!!

Purchased on Tesco card so got Clubcard points too.

Don't miss: Anyone tried a "zero interest" credit card deal?

If you don't need yo live on your CC , atleast use it once a month & pay it off , it keeps your credit rating. Good luck

Yes. In an economic crisis Credit Cards often reduce their lending.

There is no need for extremes like utilising full credit limit given, or not using it at all. Keep some activities on it and not carry a balance.

Keep it, don't lose your credit limit, but don't abuse it. You never know when a real emergency hits.

Don't forget to take a look at: I use my credit card for everything as I get cashback from my Bank

Yes, that’s normal, same happened with me, it impacted my credit rating too , so I now try to use credit regularly whenever I can (and clear it obv).

I had barclayxard I only used for holidays.

Only found it was closed when I went to buy universal Tickets with it a few weeks ago and it kept failing. When I phoned them they'd shut it week before.

Amazing I received all their text messages offering o% transfers but none of the one's they supposedly sent saying they were closing the account.

Paid off a credit card recently but didn’t close it - they reduced my credit from £5,000 to £100! Seriously! I then closed it.

Mine doesn't when I get to zero but then again I always pay the balance off every month ..so technically use it like a debit card.

Also, you get better protection buying bits on credit card than debit.. and before anyone starts with the remarks I wasn't being nasty or boasting.

Suggested: I've been doing really well paying off my credit cards and getting out of debt

We had are turn off can’t use every if we need to it will be cancel once we paid it town. Work park is if they left us a card number it clear by now . But we can only pay for DD which leave us 8 months to go.

I had a £1000 overdraft limit with my bank which I was often up close to the limit on. Once I cleared it and was able to stay out of it regularly, it was automatically reduced to £200. I think it must typically be what happens in the financial world.

Yes I just checked mine as we may have to pay for another car as ours is being fixed and hubby needs a car for work, previously had credit of £5000 and now reduced to £1000
