I'm with OVO energy for both my gas and electric – But.. the smart meters in the gas one has never worked

I have a question you s might be able to help with.

I'm with OVO energy for both my gas and electric. But since I got the smart meters in the gas one has never worked they say they can't do anything with it and every time they send someone out to look at it they charge me for the visit is there anything I can do to go this sorted.

I'm a man of 65 years old and have c.o.p.d and asthma and every two or three days I have to go out and take a reading and as some people will know with c.o.p.d and asthma if it's cold you can't breathe outside.

Any answers for this the company just don't care but will take the money.

If you’re able to take a reading from the actual meter, then the meter is working. Do you mean the in home display is not connecting and showing you your gas reads. Or just that the gas meter isn’t sending the readings to the energy company.

Suppliers should not be making a charge to attend metering equipment that is not working correctly.

You should consider raising this issue as a formal complaint as well as the ‘being charged’ situation.

They will have 56 days to resolve the issue before you can ask the energy ombudsman to take your case.

Why do you have to take readings every few days? Are you on the priority list? I would get help from citizens advice if it were me x good luck x

Why are you reading it that often? Just do monthly.

If its too far from the electricity meter this can happen but it just makes it like a standard meter.
