I have an issue with work and need some advice.
We’ve been having ac issues and supposedly it’s still “broke”, but when I got to work yesterday, it was on and 72 degrees. Went to the office and the vent was blowing out cold air. Like 2 hours before the boss left, it got super hot again. After he left, I noticed the ac was now turned off. It’s locked so I don’t have access to the key.
It’s been 109 here the past few days and the building is 80 inside... even with 2 fans going. I don’t do well with heat. At all. I’m talking it gives me migraines to the point I’ve had to ask my mom for pain pills the past 2 nights I’ve worked. The heat and severe headaches also cause my blood sugar to stay in the 200s. No matter what.
I’ve only been at this job for 2 months and was hired through a temp agency. I’m afraid to bring this up because I don’t want to get fired. (I live in a state where they can fire you for whatever reason). But, I also can’t go in like this.
Would you bring this up to the boss? Get a doctors note for special accommodations (like wearing shorts)? Leave it be and suffer?

If you still work for the Staffing agency, you should definitely reach out to the recruiter who assigned you to that job.
They are normally your first point of contact, especially if you don't feel comfortable with the 'boss' and he's giving you conflicting stories.
Otherwise, if they are no longer part of your employment and you've signed on where you've been placed, I'd reach out to Human Resources and let them know what is going on (I'd get some of your co-workers to do this with you.) I hope you get some resolution!

My son is having the same issue with Rite Aid. The AC has been broken for years. My son has been politely lobbying since April for an AC to cool the store. The existing one is not working and apparently the landlord won't fix it.
My son takes a pic of temp each day. Most times it is in the high eighties. Recently in low 90s.
He and other coworkers respectfully walk out if temp is over 90. They are polite and inform the manager an hour before leaving. I stood in the store for an hour last week and was sweating and short of breath
My son has informed his union rep and local RiteAid manager. My son is a college student and 21 years old.
He has written numerous letters to corporate signed by other employees.
Corporate's response was that the AC works fine..
Would you also like to explore: Does anyone else find their insulin hurts?

Consider going to the doctor and getting a note and then also talking to the doctor about migraines because they make migraine medication that could also help you, verify that your drinking enough water.
And then finally I would take that doctor's note to the agency you're working for and say I appreciate this job opportunity I have this note I need a different environment due to my health accommodation needs.
Someone mentioned the freeze neck wraps I use these on long bike rides in the heat they work well.

Firstly - I’d just ask the boss can we keep ac on please it’s hot. Simple as, see what response you get?
Are other ls finding it hot what have they said, js it common for boss to switch it off could just be a thing he’s not realising.
Not sure if wanna work in a place I couldn’t just ask the boss to put the ac on - doesn’t seem a big ask.
You can check also: I was wondering is there any way to lower the cost of supplies?

You might even consider contacting the DOL regarding unsafe working conditions, but make sure you document first! Bring a thermometer in, take temperature readings, photograph them, morning and afternoon after Boss leaves.
First you might want to reach out to the agency that was your first contact with hiring and ask them.
