New to owning a greenhouse. My question is: do most put the shade cloth inside or on the out side of the roof? My temps run 100 plus with ventilation.

Thanks for any help.

It really depends on how much cooling effect you want or is it just shade you’re looking for. Outside if you require the most cooling effect and shade.

If you place it on the inside the part under the shade cloth will be shaded and slightly cooler but the volume between the shade cloth and top of your greenhouse will still be getting solar radiation and heating the air.

Outside over the top. I will suggest if you buy one spend the $$ for a good quality one.

Last summer I went cheap and mid summer it was like it melted and ripped down the middle so ended up spending double the $$ for a good quality one and it is holding up.

I used to do inside, but it doesn’t stop the heat coming into the greenhouse. This year I did outside and it makes a huge difference. The heat is stopped before it gets in.
Thanks to someone on here who answered this same question for me.

Third year on this one. I put bunches on this side to give it some give in the wind.

Mine is outside. It does double duty acting as hail protection and shade. It’s saved my hoop house several times very effectively.

We are located in Wyoming, and it is very windy here. We have shade cloth snugged up close outside of the GH. No wind events have budged it yet!

And it is amazing as far as cooling goes. Makes a great difference!

Outside. I have 50% reflective aluminum shade cloth on my 8 x 10 Cedar-Built gh with auto opening vents.. Always cooler in gh than outside.

Buy white shade cloth. Black just absorbs more heat. I put it outside with spring clamps..

Mine is inside. I can hang out in it for hours and be comfortable, even in the summer.

If you’re voting for outside how wind proof is it? We routinely get winds here that can exceed 60 mph. I don’t know how I could keep it on
