We’re looking for a recommendation for a quick, last minute beach trip
Have some unexpected time off work before school starts. It would need to be a drive or short flight from the Midwest. We’re thinking Myrtle Beach, OBX, Charleston, or Hilton Head. We’d like something nice/clean/safe, but with good kid activities (more than just relaxing and beach).
Myrtle is definitely going to have more kids activities - Putt putt, boardwalk rides, ripley’s believe it or not, etc.
Charleston would be next. The activities aren’t as close to the beach, and there are fewer to do, but you can still putt putt, go to the aquarium, go see the battle ship at Patriots Point (not sure how old your kids are) etc.
Hilton Head and OBX are definitely more lounge/relax areas. There are a few things to do on Sea Pines in HHI - bike riding, restaurants - if you are staying there. You could also go for the delay but there is an entrance fee.

How about western Michigan (Traverse City, Ludington, South Haven) or Door County?
Paul Danko We just did Sleeping Bear Dunes, 1st time in Michigan. Loved it!
