Due to fly to Rhodes this Friday but have been told by TUI they have cancelled all holidays and are offering us to change it to a different destination. Only thing is our flights are with easyJet whom haven’t actually cancelled flights so if we choose to change destinations we have to still fly with easyJet to avoid losing lots of money.

Not sure how we feel about still even going to Rhodes. Our hotel is in Kolymbia so not an affected resort.

Do we change to somewhere else or stick?

If it's TUI package even if it's EJ flights would have thought as a package deal you should get it cancelled as a whole, have you spoken to TUI.

I’d personally stick with it, but it’s your decision, from what I’ve been reading there is only one area still not contained and still on fire but it’s not anywhere near Kolymbia, holidaymakers are continuing as normal in that area and Rhodes needs our tourism, we are due out there in a couple of weeks and will be going if we can also staying in Kolymbia.

Don't miss: Has anyone booked holidays through both TUI and On The Beach?

Change. TUI are making the call for you, based on the ground intelligence.

Stay and go to Rhodes the fires are the other end of the island so will not affect you.

Don’t believe all the media bile on tv, yes there are extra people in hotels however quite a few have been cleared now and flown out.

The majority of people being evacuated now are locals, my friend slept on a boat last night! And I know people who have lost everything. The Rhodian people need tourists more than anything now.

Explore these too: in TUI: If I change the holiday now will I lose the seat money?

My daughter and her family are their at the moment . They are safe and finishing their holiday.try change the date by a couple of weeks time . They need tourists to come . The hotels are safe pools beaches and restaurants are all good serving amazing meals . I had a brilliant holiday their such lovely local people they will make you so welcome my daughter is in Pefkos just now coming to the end of her two week holiday yes it did have its scary moments but the danger has past now .

It’s the hillsides , wildlife and the lively hood and local homes now that the struggle it’s their living . They need to keep the season going . Please think and research the area you are going to lots of very safe places the danger has past for most of the area .

I know my daughter and family and many other families have praised and thanked the local people for going way beyond in the way they helped them to safety before the tour company’s got a grip . Greece is a truly amazing place after many holiday in pefkos many times I have nothing but praise and gratitude to the many locals that helped by getting my family to safety and many many more too . It’s was scary and frustrating for many Saturday/ Sunday but they are safe and back in their hotel.

Also, check out: Are the easyJet cancellations affecting the package holidays too or just flights?

I was one of the people evacuated from these awful fires as our hotel was in the thick of it. Kolymbia is definitely not affected as we was evacuated to a hotel there.

However, I think allot of added pressure has been put on these hotels in safe areas with the evacuees etc.

If you have a package holiday with Tui they will sort it all for you.

Get a refund, the island now has no supporting infrastructure, no food, water etc is getting in, there electricity in areas has been affected and water supply contaminated… it may not be the holiday you were originally sold!

If you do decide to change, I would definitely consider rebooking Rhodes for a future break! It’s a beautiful island and will really need tourism support for their economy x

Why is everyone saying change? If I was u I will go…don’t listen to anyone!!! Just go and enjoy because where u going is no where near the fire

I thought it’s only a small area in Rhodes affected? They will need economy support.

I’m due to fly out on Friday, love holidays have cancelled the package holiday and offered a refund. I was flying out with Ryanair as part of the package and added my luggage on via Ryanair. Ryanair are not refunding me for my add ons because the flight is still operational.

I’m glad I’m only losing the cost of the baggage. Personally I wouldn’t fly out there, evacuees are sleeping in lobbies of hotels and it could get worse.

I wouldn’t risk going through what all the evacuees went through, looked really scary for them.

Don't forget to take a look at: Holiday Scam… Hopefully not!

Then yes this will be different t&c.

I didn't realise this when discussing on the dedicated thread to help you out.

We were on hold for customers today with 3rd party for over an hour but we'd still need to check if you want to go whether it would be possible but think it should be ok as bound by easyJet flights (not holidays) t&C's

Definitely need to speak with your nearest store or get on the phone at 8am tomorrow and go through to 3rd party flights dept.
