Hi, I would appreciate any help for a friend. She is a singe mum to 4 kids, eldest is 15, and she is trying to work out a holiday. She booked a cruise but the cruise company cancelled it as the 15 and 13 year old would be too young to share a cabin on their own.

Are there any types of holiday where she can get round this or offer adjoining rooms etc.

Thanks for any help.

We are a family of 5 and have always stayed together in a 2 or 3 bed family suite or adjoining room. X

I’m not sure there is tbh. Most hotels you have to have at least a 16 year old in.

When we book 2 rooms we pretend there is a adult with a child but actually put my three teens in one room and us parents in the other.

It won’t let us book any other way but most people I know who do this don’t actually sleep in the room they say.

My son has just gone away with his mates family and he has a room with his mate both are 16 but on the booking they would have had one adult one child in each room.

With TUI (they use TUI) you def have to have an 18year old in each room.

Explore these too: TUI or easyJet: Do we change to somewhere else or stick?

Try the caravan parks abroad, they have some lovely sites all over Europe with great facilities and activities.

It all depends on what they want from a holiday though.

I had 7 children we used to take abroad and when going into hotels once you had another room the price increases quite a lot turkey is very good for apartments with 2 rooms also they give you child prices up to age 17 some even 19 when I planned to go abroad my self with my 5 children as a single mum I was looking at the euro camp style holiday or even apartments or aparthotels in Palma nova benidorm salou.

Also, check out: I’m looking for a place in the UK happy to travel anywhere for a long weekend Monday-Friday for 2 adults 3 children

Loads of hotels have rooms with 2 bedrooms within. When you search on jet 2 or tui make sure you have it set to “Number of rooms- 1” rather than “I don’t mind”. This way it will bring up two bed apartments etc, we have to do this as a family of 5 as otherwise it will try to split us across two individual rooms.

2 bedroom apartment is best bet but you can't get them many places. Some in Spain and the canaries. Nearly all self catering though.

A villa or airbnb could be an option.

Quite a few hotels will offer rooms big enough for a family of 5. MSC also offer cruise cabins for bigger families.

The bigger rooms are popular and will go quickly though so she needs to do it as far in advance as possible.

She may be best going into Hayes or TUI because they can message the hotels, we booked 2 rooms and the hotel put mattresses in the one room so we could all stay together xx
