How much are under 25's paying for car insurance please?
My 17 year old learner driver, has her own car with her own insurance as me as a named driver and it’s only £272 a year. I think a lot of factors like where it’s kept, where you live, how old, male or female etc are all taken into consideration. You can raise the excess which puts it down a little.
I had to have third party fire and theft only when I first started 18 years ago, as only way I could afford it! Felt like a true grown up when I could first afford fully comp.

It’s expensive in general! We had to get rid of our car insurance was over 100 quid a month driving for 15 years no convictions no accidents.
My 23 yr old daughter passed last year and is paying about £1150 for a 63 reg 107 …Tesco.
You cannot compare your car insurance price to anyone else. There are so many rating factors which are taken into consideration for your premium.
The price of insurance is sitting quite high at the moment, along with everything else too of course. My car insurance premium always comes in about £100 more than last year but, they get it down. This year it’s gone up by £300 with no claims/changes.
Your post code for one is a big factor so what someone is paying in Croydon will be a lot different to someone paying rent in Eastbourne for example.
Naturally that premium should come down as your start building your no claims.
Don't miss: Just had quote for car insurance from present company and they want over £100 more

It's based on you, your postcode, everything that you wouldn't really think of. Also clear your cache and cookie settings when looking, because everytime you look, it goes a little higher. Clearing your cookies and cache will lower them again. Sounds silly but it's a marketing thing x
My daughter just past and after days of searching, messing around with details cheapest we could get is £3400 with Adrian Flux. This is for a 1.2 vw polo with a black box and £1000 excess with me as a named driver. She is 17 and apparently we live in a high risk area x
My son paid £504 upfront and £298 a month, that's the cheapest I could get for him from acorn insurance and that's me as a named driver too.
He only passed on Monday and is 17 so he's paying a fortune. Its disgusting.

My daughter is 18 and passed 4 weeks ago. She is paying £112 a month and that is with a black box. She has a 2011 cintreon C1.
I work for Admiral insurance who own Bell, Diamond and elephant. It works out cheaper in the long run if you do this.
Add a car in learner drivers name as policy holder. Ask the agent to add Named drivers to see if any bring the price down. When a learner driver goes on as a provisional driver they go on as a risk 1. How the underwriters see it is that they are being taught to drive by an experienced driver. When they pass their test they stay as a risk 1. Underwriting see it that they have experience driving the vehicle and have been taught in the same vehicle so when they pass their test they stay as a risk 1. (Cheaper in the long run).
If you don’t add as a provisional license holder first and they are a new driver then as we don’t know if they have had any experience in the vehicle they will go on as a risk 9. (Far more expensive). Even if you use the companies like Sterling or Marmalade (which may be a bit cheaper as a learner) it doesn’t count to when they go on to Admiral policies and so they go as a risk 9.
Then add on more cars and finally house insurance as the house insurance is what brings up the biggest discount so it’s a multi policy. We can even add close family members who live at a different address.

I’m 24 with a licence 7 years and 6 years NCD, on a 1L aygo I just paid 450. Last year I had a 1L clio and it was 600 something x
I went on my friends sons first car and he was quoted £3000 to begin with. I then brought it down by £800!
My insurance when I passed at 17 was £2800, 18 was £2400, 19 was £1800 20 was £1300 21 was £998 and 22 was £850, my renewal is in November so waiting to see what it is this year but should drop again, I’ve never had a black box which is why my first years were expensive as a new driver, I’ve only ever switched between direct line and admiral and with admiral since 20 which also had my home insurance as a dual policy so the last 3 years premium includes the house insurance on there too xx

My daughter used sterling for her first year, black box is definitely the way to go for the first year. Still not cheap but brings it down a bit!
She used them for her learner insurance too they were really good!
She’s on her second year now and their renewal price was also the cheapest (without a box!) x
Would you also like to explore: Why my car insurance has increased £400+ a year when I’ve done a quote?

I'm over 50, my renewal came in this week £1335!
They are taking the pee, I drive a Hyundai Tuscon not a formula 1 car with full no claims!

It's rediculous for first year as a qualified driver. My daughter driving a 950cc car and it cost her £1400 for first year. That's with a black box too. That was the cheapest we could find. One asked for £4000
If you have a new driver, putting an experienced driver on the policy as a named driver helps bring the price down (only clean licenses) I’m named on both my kids, a black box is a must also to keep the cost down.
I found stating the car would be parked on the rd was cheaper than the drive too

My son just passed last week, he turned 17 4 months ago. Insurance was £2600 on a 1.0 litre VW polo with a black box. Carrot insurance. Rang round and search engined literally everywhere. He does get vouchers back for good driving but I think it's because he's only just 17 is the biggest factor
