I have just moved in and it’s all electric with OVO. Are they any good?

In 1 day I have spent £5 on electricity. While not at home.

Changing supplier isn't going to make a difference to your usage and as they're all pretty much charging the same you'll be paying the same. You need to investigate what's using this.amount of electricity.

I live alone; I am with OVO. I read my meters daily and have a spreadsheet.

I use about 10 units of electricity per week at present, that's about £6.50/week (inc VAT and daily standing charge).

My water's via gas, so I skimp on showers and I use cold water to wash up and cold settings on the washing machine.

Start reading your meters daily.

Jot it down/keep a spreadsheet.

1/ See what you use.
2/ Work out what's using that.

Don't miss: I'm with OVO energy for both my gas and electric – But.. the smart meters in the gas one has never worked

OVO is a terrible company to deal with, customer service is dreadful! We are looking at moving company now.

Depending how you heat your home in winter you may benefit more from the cheaper night rate then. I'm on a similar tariff with Octopus but my standing charge is less as I fixed a while ago.

At the moment I run the dishwasher and washing machine to finish for around 6.30 on the cheap rate.

The immersion goes on for around 20 to 30 minutes a day on eco 7 We probably use around 3 kws a day on the cheap rate and our daily spend in summer is about £3.00 to £3.25 In the warmer months I use the electric shower on eco.

We do cook everyday and that's for 2 adults at home all day.

Explore these too: Recently OVO deleted all our actual readings and replaced them with estimates

Have you checked your hot water tank settings? If it’s been off a while, it might take a lot to warm up again. Alternatively, the last occupant may have left if on continuous heating, rather than timed.
