Heart attack, stroke - trip to hospital. Cardiac bypass. Post surgury, meds included carvedilol 6.25mg bid and lisinopril 20mg bid. Tachycardia and bp brought under control. EKG shows negative T-Wave and bundle block. 3-5 second pauses several times a month.
EDIT: Stage III chf too
Diagnosed diabetic also. Put on 18u per day insulin. I rejected the insulin and opted for ultra low carb diet (ketosis). Diet brought glucose level under control.
Everything was under control, after 3 months, however, BP plunged to 90/50 and pulse down to 40's frequently and rarely above 60bpm.
Cardiologist recommended pace-maker and increase Carvedilol. I said "no". Cardiologist changed beta-blocker to meteprolol and advised that that would help with BP but not bradycardia. Tried that and it did lower BP, and bradycardia persisted.
I went off script and stopped the beta-blocker completely, now have pulse normally between 60-75bpm, with occasional dips to 55bpm. Have not advised cardiologist of this... yet. BP is under control.
Cardiologist advised the beta blocker was necessary to counter arrhythmia.
I sought a second opinion from another cardiologist who said she would be open to ceasing the beta-blocker.
Now, I ask doctors in this Community for their opinion: in general, which risk is outweighed regarding beta-blocker: bradycardia (with beta-blocker) or arrhythmia(without beta-blocker)?
Also, I have "attriclip" which is to reduce chance of stroke should afib suddenly come back.
Thanks, in advance, for your opinion.

Is your HR 55 at rest? If so..that's not bad. I've been having some AFib issues starting recently. I have a strong heart they say. I also keep moving at my job as well and some Cardio before work. I do eat more low carb. My HR runs 55 at rest.
As long as your not feeling dizzy etc. But the 40s is concerning. But I've meditated deep enough I've had it to 48 before. Make sure your electrolytes are up if you're doing Keto. If your potassium, magnesium, and sodium get wonky it can cause irregular rhythms. I took my BP before work and it was unusually high this morning at 144/85. Went to work and had a lot of skipped beats today. Stayed calm with it and did my job.
Came home heart was good at 62 HR no more skipped beats. BP was back at my usual 115/72. They had me on Diatazam which I stopped taking yesterday at 4pm. It was really jacking my gut and I didn't feel right with it at 2x a day.
So I stopped. Tomorrow I'm getting a 14 day holter monitor and I will opt for an Ablation. On a side note...Metroprolol put a wallop on me. In a week and half time I became consumed with death, depressed, and ultimately suicidal. Worst drug ever for me. But it does do wonders for many. But it's on my allergy list.
I weened of f it and was back to myself. Some reason I don't do well with blockers. I just take lisinopril with a diuretic.
And the Keto diet is great. So you might find if you keep it up and get excercise you won't need meds anymore. That could be part of the reason your BP is dropping.
