Hi everyone, I know it’s not the most exciting part of a kitchen Reno but what do you love (or loathe) about your concealed kitchen bins?

Having a little shelf at the top for garbage bags is great too.

Love that the bins are concealed and it has a hidden storage drawer for bin bags, etc.

I loath nothing. We loved ours so much at our previous house that when we moved into our current house- an older fixer upper, my hubby turned one of our kitchen cabinets into a bin drawer.

There are no cons imo.

Don't miss: Should we do the kitchen reno first and the. Change the floor?

Only dislike….cleaning the inside of the cupboard, difficult to access.

But not a big enough dislike to not have this in my kitchen. Love it.

We've had ours (new kitchen) for 2 days. I love that it's in easy reach and that we now have somewhere for the recycling to go as everyone would just dump it on the end of the bench.

Excuse the not quite finished kitchen.

Love that they're hidden, but need to make sure they're to the side of the sink so people can access if someone is using the sink.

They are essential in a kitchen. The other most useful cupboard I find is my broom cupboard with built in PowerPoint for the stick vac. Love it.

Haefle Halio 45 cargo. Go to for 20 years in 4 houses.

Love that I leave dustpan and broom and garbage bags in shelf above. 45l esp. recyclables don’t have to emptied twice a day.

Explore these too: Has anyone here done their own kitchen?

We’ve got a shallow drawer above ours which I love. Keeps the bin liners handy so the kids don’t have an excuse to not put a new one in.

I love in my new reno that the biin comes out with the door, like your photo. In my previous home you had to open the door then pull them bin out...annoying and messy.

The bins are much easier to clean this way as well.

Love love, I wouldn't have my bins outside ever again, there are many to choose from, but I would choose bins that have less crooks and crannys around the anchoring parts to the cupboard to make it easier to keep clean.

Nothing you can’t see them….I couldn’t deal with a big bin in corner of kitchen …..yes you need to replace the contents more often but a small price to pay.

I bought a recycle bin for just behind garage door kitchen entry so I only have to do a recycle dump every two days into bin outside.

Nothing to loathe. Mine is an actual drawer though which has bins inside it. That way I can have my scrap bin in the same drawer. My cabinet maker tried to talk me out of this because he said it’d be dirty etc etc.

Pfft.... he didn’t know about my obsession with cleanliness..

I reckon it’s one of the essential features of a kitchen. I have a wide but shallow drawer beside the bin drawer which houses my gladwrap, alfoil, bin liners etc.

Don't forget to take a look at: Looking for ideas for a splash back for my new kitchen

I love mine…I even have an electronic arm on the inside so when I kick the bottom of the drawer it opens…handy when you have full hands.

I don’t like having the door connected directly to the bin. I’ve had two where the screws have pulled out of the door multiple times over the years. In our current kitchen are pull out bins but in a cupboard instead.

No problems with the screws!

Loathe that our pull out bins have little notches at the bottom and make them super hard to wipe out the grime that can build up around them.

I’ll be making sure I look for bins that have no extra bits at the bottom and are easy to clean in our kitchen reno.
