This is something that concerns me. Do you have an opinion for me?

I've always gone with irregular inspiration. I might be able to invoke it a bit if I read something thought-provoking.

I start my writing projects from an idea.

Sometimes, they turn into poems, and at other times, they turn into short stories or essays.

Yes, you can get inspired by something you see, poetry can also be in an imaginary world.

Wrote this for my youngest daughter and left it on her computer when we we dropped her off at college……

Just A Hug

A hug is such a simple thing
not so much to ask.
It says I love you face to face
Just within arms grasp.
At times it can be just the thing
to keep you safe and warm.
Or shield you from harms way
sheltered from the storm.
It used to keep Jack Frost away
sledding down the hill.
Sometimes it makes the pain go away
better than a pill.
With just a little tug boat sound
it floats you to a dream.
And chases all the monsters out
in the middle of a scream.
I guess a hug is not so simple
it seems to help out just in time.
So keep this promise in your heart
you can trade it for a hug
ANYTIME
love Dad

I can just sit and let poems write themselves out, also I write to feel inspired, not the other way around.

Both. any number of things can make me want to write about a certain subject.

But if there is a challenge in a group I want to enter with a subject matter one must use I do that too.

You can check also: Would it be better to include Alma's or her mothers poems in the book?

I write poetry when it's ready to be written. They just happen.
