We have two dogs. A 16-year-old shih Tzu and a 10-year-old lab mix rescue. My rescue has anxiety issues. When we got her at 5 months old we already had two 6-year-old cats that were pretty calm...
We lost one of them a few years ago and just lost the second one two weeks ago. Most of the time she was great with them. Even would lay next to them but she would bark and chase the cats once in a while. She also definitely chases birds, squirrels, and bunnies if she's out in the yard.
I'm just wondering if it would be okay to bring in a kitten and do a very slow introduction. She's never been around kittens only older cats...
Wondering if I could get some advice on whether it would be okay to get a kitten?
A kitten is not recommended at this time. You have a senior pet who doesn’t want a playful kitten in his face and the anxious dog maybe bothered by the kitten. I would wait.
I'd wait, Give your senior dog all the attention make him your #1 priority as long as he's with you.
