We’ve purchased a new house (a qld’er) that has a heap of casement windows in the lounge room (pretty much every room). I love them but the room does get abit of midday/early afternoon sun it so I think I need coverings.

Just worried shutters will “hide” the windows too much and floaty sheers won’t work with a fire place? Pic is from real estate so not my furniture. Any suggestions?

Beautiful windows.
I would do as Claudia has recommended and get Romans.
I have them in my living areas as like to see out.
I have plantation shutters in all the bedrooms.
Also, in QLD

What about romans, but wall mounted just below the ceiling. That way you won't cover any of your beautiful windows. We have done similar on ours.

Those windows are so beautiful! I would go rollers in a pelmet so you can open them up fully and enjoy those gorgeous windows and views!

Have you considered Roman blinds? Or linen-look curtains?

We’re doing ours at the moment and we just want privacy at night so will likely have roller blinds that are under a pelment (the padded boxes covering the rod).

Roman Blinds with Block out look good with that era buildings/windows. Can highly recommend Blinds Online (Tuiss).

Once u take your measurements & choose your fabric the online quoting form is really easy & gives you accurate pricing to work with your budget.

Love to see the result of your choice down the track.

Don't miss: I want to get window coverings for the front 1st floor windows

I would put in simple white blinds. That just fit under the casement.

So, when they are rolled up it’s not a feature and blends into the beautiful room. The windows will still be the star of the room.

Relocate the fireplace to a corner or wall without windows? Then you could have sheers everywhere if you want them, and stack them to the side of each window, so you get your acreage views.

Not a practical answer to your question but it was the first thing I thought when I saw such a beautiful room!

I also have a fireplace, I live in WA and we only use it for a few months in winter, love it every evening for about 3 months when it’s cold.

Explore these too: Talk to me about the best options for window coverings/blinds for alfresco sliding doors?

Perhaps think about roller blinds. You can then put them up or down as needed, with very little of the window covered when they are up. You can have them installed within the window frame, just under the lintel (?).

I love shutters but I love letting beautiful windows like these shine. I quite like bamboo blinds for some texture and warmth.
