Plantation Shutters for internal windows

What’s there to look out for / questions to ask / company recommendations when choosing plantation shutters please?

Also, are you able to pull out the windows and fly screens easily to clean with the frames they install?

I have a sink under my window, first company told me that there was no way I could get a shutter to open in the middle and the side window (I love having the window open in summer to let in a breeze) they were adamant that there was no way I could have the tape higher etc.

I got another company and they matched my shutters up to my window frames so you can not see the frames at all (I have black frames) and they worked out how I could get to the fixed middle to clean it.

Definitely Franklyn’s and mine open from the middle easy to clean both shutters, windows and screens.

It depends on the style of your windows. I have mainly sliding, and the fly screens pull out from the outside.

Some are awning, and I have to unscrew the magnetic clip holding the shutter in place to get the fly screen out to clean the window.

Just have had a quote for shutters in my new home from a local in mandurah WA who said if you have awning windows you can install the shutter frames on the outer edge of the window so you can get the fly screen out… ask the question as most won’t tell you this.

I have put in 13 plantation shutters and 12 of them face the front of the house, plus our ensuite, The way my windows are, I can pull out the fly screens easily and our windows as they are sliding alluminium windows.

However, I couldn't put it in the kids bathroom as the bath was too close to the window and it would not have opened.

I had to get roller blinds for the rest of our house as the windows are floor to ceiling.

If your handy go through DIY blinds, we installed them all ourselves and saved heaps. Also, they open up so you have access to the frames to clean.

Sooo we had some of our windows locked when shutters were installed and then had to get them back to remove shutters so we could unlock the windows.

Although shutters look amazing would've been great for that information prior.

Our window locks are on the right side but apparently some windows have their lock in the middle of the window which would probably work well if your shutters open from the middle.
