Holidays in Egypt – pros and cons please!
Check your hotel. We went to Hurghada at Easter and had our hotel changed. We weren’t impressed.
Beware of the airports on the return, lots of security.
And…, don’t forget you need to pay the 25 dollars/euro/sterling (whichever they want to accept, on entry).
Suggested: I returned this week from a glorious group riding holiday in Egypt

Sinbad club Hurghada Food great and on the plus side right opposite a McDonald’s and KFC if the kids fancy junk food.
Has its own private beach and boat harbour with submarine.

The Red Sea is incredible to go snorkeling in but honestly, that aside I really didn't care for the place.
My advice would be to save up a bit more and go to Mexico or Cuba.

Recently returned from Hugharda can’t wait to go back. Swam with dolphins in the Red Sea, snorkelling is amazing and the people are so lovely. Only negative it was so so hot.
Would go back when it’s cooler xx

No cons. Been 4 times.amazing weather , amazing hotels and lovely people. If you want winter sun then perfect. If you want blazing summer heat then perfect.
I prefer Hurghada beaches are better and the snorkelling is amazing

Pros, it’s hot, the hotels are nice, snorkelling is great, beaches are nice, it’s cheap.
Cons, very poor areas outside hotel complexes, dead camels by the side of the road, food and drink very hit and miss, the need to queue for the yellow pills at reception for the stomach pills, lots of Russians who tend not to queue, had to go under armed guard from hotel and on any trips.
There’s better places imo.
Also, check out: Going to Egypt [Cairo] next week from the UK. Is it best to change your money from the UK or whilst in Egypt?

Lovely weather , do ur research on hotels, I prefer Hurghada than Sharm especially for snorkelling, we stayed at serenity fun city in Hurghada amazing for kids.
Over the years been 20+ times , u have to go open minded, people are freindly, snorkeling is great, sun always shines, do ur research for a hotel that suits you, we all want different things from a holiday.
We did a trip to luxor and valley of the Kings which was great but it was hot and it was a very long day.

Pros - you'll get an amazing hotel for maybe half to two thirds of what you'd pay in Europe for a lesser hotel. £200 a night will get you somewhere super luxurious (for example a Steigenberger or Rixos hotel) whereas say in Turkey or the Canaries you'll pay £300 a night for somewhere decent rather than exceptional
Cons - some people get a bit of a culture shock going somewhere without pictures on the menu and no full English in the morning.
Don't forget to take a look at: Any suggestions for a all-inclusive hotel in Egypt for a family of 5, children age 8,13 and 17?

I’ve been 10 + times. I really like it. My husband and I did a Nile cruise years ago which was fascinating, I’d love to go again. We weren’t keen on Hurghada and much prefer Sharm.
I’ve seen lots of people say they don’t like it, they feel unsafe and don’t like the hassling you get but I’ve always felt safe and never had a problem with the hassling.
Just like with any country, be aware of your surroundings, be respectful to locals, enjoy yourself. We’re actually going again next year!

If you go into a bad hotel u will hate it so don't go for cheapest and always check reviews.
I've been going Hurghada many years in great hotel with good entertainment, good food, it's always hot.

Nice hotels, lovely beaches and calm sea’s but when you venture out of your hotel complex be prepared to be sabotaged at every street corner, very intense and intimidating vibe on the streets didn’t always feel safe.
Cairo is chaotic & crazy but I fell inlove with it - If you plan to stay over if you're visiting the Pyramids and want the best view on a budget - The Pyramids view boutique is the best place, they have a 3 tier restaurant on the roof minute's from the Pyramids & Sphinx - even if you're not staying go for food or drink up there, they do a light show in the evening & it's fantastic, the staff are friendly & it's a welcome break from the chaos that is Cairo
No cons. Easy to do it independently, tour around, trains, buses and flights are easy.
Don’t just go to the coast, Luxor and Aswan are amazing. Be adventurous!
