Our HOA won't allow us to have a green house. How about a tent in the basement with artificial lighting?

Why anyone, anywhere, ever would want to buy a house in a HOA neighborhood is beyond me. You're paying to have a ton of Karen's as your neighbors.

I wonder how many of these hostile policies would survive in HOAs if the homeowners talked to each other about what they wanted to build and grow on their own property, and then unified to change these ridiculous rules.

I'm sure you aren't the only one who would love to see useful plants growing abundantly in your neighborhood.

Are you allowed a shed? It can have lots of windows and skylights.

62% of freedom loving Americans live in HOA communities? I'm truely shocked.

I do believe no one, even HOAs can tell you you can not grow food. Check out your local laws, not HOA laws. They suck!

Can you use the temporary ones? They aren’t great as far as holding up in wind and whatnot but since it’s not permanent structure, would it violate the rules? Agree if you can have a shed maybe call it that and just have lots of windows lol.

Our HOA is about 100 a year. So you will usually deal with City ordinances, county, state , or some kind of controlling factor. Whoever was knocking the HoA deal that had nothing to do with the question, probably lives in turn with more regs than the HoA. This isn’t an argument forum, it’s a greenhouse site. If you don’t have a decent answer maybe just scroll through.

As an Australian I just don't understand the whole point of HOAs. I mean, if your garden is a garbage dump and full of snakes and spiders then the local Council is likely to get involved and tell you to tidy up, but otherwise it's each to their own.
