I am in my 50s and looking to travel overseas by myself( I am in Australia)

What countries have you visited and can you recommend any tours for solo woman travellers?

I'm looking at Europe or Asia atm.

Thank you.

is there a specific reason you need a tour? lots of companies will charge you a single supplement.

The 1st time I went to a country (I travel alone) I always took a tour. EF was my choice because it was a bit slower and everywhere you went you had either a free afternoon or full day. More relaxing.

I found that it was easy to meet the other travelers and there were always other single people on the tour I could pal up with for meals and events if I wanted to.

I could also just enjoy alone time walking around cities and people watching without someone saying let's go! Don't hesitate to go! They do charge single supplements, but it's still worth it.

When I returned to a country I really enjoyed, I went solo or with a friend, and went back to where I wanted more time the 1st time so I could just wander.

It seems folks can tell you're a foreigner and I sometimes just sit at the little cafe tables and people will come up and start talking to me.

Never be afraid to go! Europe is wonderful!

Also, check out: I want to know what's really required and advised when traveling to these countries for short periods of time

Don't have a tour recommendation but I think Japan, Korea and Taiwan will be safe for solo travellers.

If you want to dip your toe in the water and see how you feel solo, Bali is so easy to be solo in. Ubud, Sanur. Just laid back cruisey life.

I have just had a month in Taiwan and highly recommend solo female travel, also with the benefit of close to Oz. It's easy to organize by yourself, accommodation/transport/food is all excellent. Google translate is your friend! I generally travel alone but have been on one tour with intrepid.

The guides were excellent and Kyrgyzstan and especially Tajikistan (Pamir highway) exceeded expectations.

I then went onto Uzbekistan alone which actually is one of the most unexpected gems. Have an amazing time.
