Wanting to take my partner abroad next year but she has a bad phobia of flying.
Are there any flight simulators that she would be able to experience preferable in the North East or any advice anyone could give?
My partner has a bad phobia of flying!
Right, so this is going to sound absolutely ridiculous but I am unbelievably terrified of flying. Like full blown panic attacks: is she in the throes of labour or what the f*** is going on with her?!!
My family actually got mega stressed and dreaded if we were going anywhere for my ‘antics’ but it is horrendous when you’re that scared. So, this is the ridiculous part…I’ve just come back from Croatia and I literally prepared myself by watching pilots on TikTok. Twin pilots I believe they are called, amongst others, basically answer questions people put to them about different things including being afraid.
It shows them in the middle of turbulence the lot and they are so chilled out, just doing their thing. I did not flicker once flying there or back. It’s really helped me watching them daily.
They explain everything so well. I chose sitting at the front of the plane because apparently you feel turbulence less there than if you were towards the back. Facts about how statistically a pilot is more likely to die in a crash on the way to the airport in his car than in a plane.
Different bits of information like this really reassured me. I was like a different woman on the plane no one could believe it!
Explore these too: I’m planning on coming to south east Asia in January. It sounds silly but I have a phobia of snakes

I took my then15 year old on Easyjets fearless flying course last year. The course itself is fabulous. You start by watching 16 modules sent to you via email which covers various things like; turbulence, safety, panic attacks, coping mechanisms etc. It's really informative (even for a plane anorak like me who loves flying).
Once you've watched the modules, a couple of days later you'll have a zoom meeting with lots of other fearless flyers and the captain who will then fly you from your chosen UK airport for a 45 min - 1 hour flight. On the day of your flight, you check into the desk as you normally would and get to know other fearless flyers on the course, go to the gate with them and meet the captains and pilots who will chat to you for an hour or so address concerns. Once boarded the crew and extra pilot in the cabin with you will talk you through everything from closing the doors to engine sounds etc. You get a drink and certificate whilst in the air and can move around if you want to. Its a really great day. A young lad of about 18 who was sat behind us went to Australia a few days after his FF course.
Although it didn't cure my daughter completely, it was a great experience and she learnt a lot. She can now summon up the courage to go on a flight (3 foreign holidays under her belt now!) She does have a little help with CBD gummies form Holland & Barratt. Takes 2 about an hour before take off to settle her nerves.
Good luck, you can do it!!

I'm sure that newcastle airport does a course and also there are flight simulator s in Newcastle where you actually think that your flying a plane, I bought it for my partner for his birthday, he loved it.
I was afraid of flying for many years. I would advise a prescription of atenolol which is a beta blocker and so stops the panicked feeling that you get with a phobia. She needs to identify specifically what her fear is - being in the sky, being trapped, terrorism, crashes etc and work on reasoning with that specifically with research on actual facts regarding the issue.
I still dread flying but when I’m on the plane I’m ok (can get really anxious in turbulence and still worry but it’s manageable) and it’s so worth it as I’ve been to so many places since I started flying again! The best thing is a short flight to start and then building up but making sure she keeps up the flying then as if it’s left a while again the phobia could return!
