Anyone else getting rid of the hot tub?

£15 a day just isn’t feasible anymore.

I've got two thermal covers on mine and it has made a massive difference to running costs, along with switching to Octopus Tracker tariff.

I know it's a luxury to have a hot tub, but it's another reminder of rising energy cost which I bet could be brought down IF WE KEPT NORTH SEA OIL /GAS for UK.. it's sold abroad. Norway makes sure its citizens have enough before selling on open market it's public owned asset.

Profits go to country's pension for elderly. How did we get to this? Sorry going off tangent... but I can imagine how owning a hot tub would be great especially if you suffer from arthritis.

They are too expensive. We are thinking in the future of making a log burning hot tub.

I’m guessing lazy spa not hot tub? We have a hot tub. Heated to 37 degrees permanently. Currently costing about £30 a week for all gas and electric.

Never had one, even when energy prices were lower, in my mind, they are expensive to run and a waste of money.

We have a lazy spa the square one I have found it cosy much less to leave it at 40 all the time then the heater only clicks on and off now and then. Costs me about £3 a day instead of £5-7 if I turn the heater on and off.

Can’t buy or run one on a pensioner budget unfortunately. I’m sure I’d really enjoy one too.

Do you have it on all the time or turn it off and then only turn it on (to heat up) when it’s used? Ultimately this can cost more, heating it from cold instead of keeping it on to heat all the time can cost more money so I’ve heard… my dad has his empty for a lot of the hottest days of summer, and then has it filled up (with warm/hot water) from around august until April and constantly on for heating and I can’t say exactly how much it costs him but I know if ir was too much he wouldn’t do it… hard shells generally cost less than the lay-a-spas as well with running from what I’ve read online, don’t quote me on that as not 100%…

My electric/gas is between £5-7 a day with my 6 person hot tub on 24/7 , it's low all week and turned up at weekends , am v mindful of turning all unnecessary switches off indoors etc.

Never bought one as I knew I couldn't afford one.
