16 yrs driving with zero claims and I'm being quoted £86 per month for my renewal. I'm only £39 right now.

What!

I understand cost of living but that's a huge jump up in price.

Any ideas or tips or recommendations folks?

I'm with admiral right now.

Thanks
Laura

Part of the government plans to get us all doing as they want? ULEZ, 15 minute cities, using public transport.

Car insurance & petrol are extortionate.

I got divorced and my car insurance shot up! To nearly £1000, I could only bring it down by about £100 too and tried everywhere! I’d been driving fully comp with no points or claims for 20 years!

It’s an absolute piss take!

They suggested I had a black box fitted! no chance!

Don't miss: Does anyone have recommendations for car insurance for a 71 year old?

Hastings quoted me double what I normally pay...I called them to ask why? and they requoted a little lower.

I asked them to hold that quote while I shopped around. Found way cheaper quotes by reputable companies on comparison sites, same excess, no claims cover etc.

Phone Hastings back and by some 'miracle' they were suddenly able to match the tiger quotes I'd found. Worth a couple if calls!!! I now pay £30 mire for the year than last year rather than the £330 extra that they quoted on the renewal!

Explore these too: How much are under 25's paying for car insurance please?

I'd love £89 a month! Mines £190 a month! :D

My car caught fire on the m25, no fault of mine. I had only been driving less than a year so there was no no claims bonus to protect.. this made my premium rocket up! So frustrating when it was a freak accident and nothing I myself had caused :o the MOT and service on the car didn't detect any faults that may have caused it. Getting them to pay out was an absolute nightmare too! Because there was no one to blame I was left in limbo for absolutely ages!

Literally at the stage where I'm considering selling the car it's ridiculous I dread to think what I'll be quoted in December when it's up for renewal.

My poor car  (what was left of it!!)
