We’re looking to cover our patio area to create an outdoor kitchen / entertaining area but with our west facing garden, we are worried we might lose a lot of our afternoon sun that lights up our house. So, we’re tossing up whether we go with a louvered system roof (Stratco or Vergola).
If anyone has a louvred system - are you happy with it? And would love to hear any dos / donts or “wish we did this..” feedback, I’d be so grateful! We plan to demo the shed in pic 2 which is the actual space.
Brains trust, show me your outdoor covered patios please!
We loved our Vergola, we eventually put outdoor blinds on it too so it created a great outdoor room.
I'll do some googling to try and remember who did it for us.

I have had no experience with Vergola, but have always thought they are a great idea. With a west facing garden your house can get very hot on a summer afternoon, so I think anything to shade your house is a good thing.
You still have the flexibility to open the roof to get the sun/light inside when you want it.

We are having a louvre roof system installed next week. I will post photos as soon as it’s all done and give you a rundown on the company we are using.
I had a Vergola roof on my old house and loved it. We didn’t install it (previous owners did) but it was great.
Did have some issues with it not automatically closing when it would start raining but from memory resetting the computer was enough to fix that.
It was great having it automatically close and open to weather, and we had not much natural light going into the main living area but worked out if we positioned the slats of the Vergola at a certain angle it pushed more light into the living room haha.
I’d definitely get it installed again if we ever bought a house that needed an outdoor patio roof.
