This is it so far. 16x32, 16ft transom window, 18 openable windows and one large fixed, will have solar power, 3 4x8 passive heaters, shade cloth and powered soaker system…and whatever else she wants…within the laws of physics.

Will you marry me?

Me: Fairly well-off widow, country girl, hard working, horsewoman. Well educated, well read. Republican.

You: Guy who will build his wife a big greenhouse.

 :D

I've got a 340 square foot off grid greenhouse with a lot of similar niceties.

There are 1.9kw of panels feeding a 5.2kwh lifepo4 battery at 24vdc. It has powered return air dampers, exhaust fans, circulator fans, heat mats, barrel heaters and a mister system all divvied up between 6 different inverters that cycle on and off per demand. I think automatic drip lines are probably the next addition.

Your setup seems a bit larger than mine but as I'm poly-covered and you appear to be going with glass I'm guessing your energy needs will be on par or slightly less than mine.

I'd love to hear more about your solar setup!

I’d like to know more about these heat mats you speak of? Our whole house is on solar so this will be a smaller system but very similar, I’ll find a pic…

It’s beautiful…and I think you are just part of a great “team”! We are in the midst of a total new build, and the new greenhouse is part of the planned extension already happening! You are going to love what you have done!!!

You will benefit from the work that your Wife has ahead of her, so I think you may love the rewards! ;) :)

Don't miss: I inherited this greenhouse when we bought our property

I just spoke to a contractor who’s background is construction. You will need to brace the walls or they will collapse and bring the roof down. Usually plywood siding could act as a structural brace, but poly sheets will not hold it up.

One strong wind and it all comes down. Sorry :(
