Join the it’s Orlando time group.

We stay at Lake Buena Vista resort & Spa.

2 and 3 bed apartments, self catering with full kitchen (dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine &tumble etc).

Walmart over the road, Disney (animal kingdom is a Disney park) within 20mins, Target is 10mins, universal & seaworld around 20 mins.

Wendy’s is over the road

Shop wise you’d be better off going to the outlet malls, again they’re all within a 30 minute drive.

There’s no beaches close by, you’d be looking at around a 2 hour drive one way!

Avoid hurricane season which runs August to October.

There’s no right time to go, it’s busy all year round!

Although October, Feb/March and December are our favourites.

Villas are all pretty far out, most are around a 49 minute drive one way to the parks and aren’t relatively close to Walmart/publix etc.

We’ve booked with whoever is cheaper!

TUI, Virgin or British Airways (use the create your trip option).

Car hire we use Andy @ discount Florida car hire or Alamo (either the US site or UK) again which ever is cheaper.

Park tickets we use FloridaTix, attraction tickets or Undercover tourist.

We don’t use the 14 day tickets for Disney as we have our preferred parks  so we buy single or 2/3 day tickets from undercover tourist.

Seaworld we buy through their own website.

Discovery cove, again wherever is cheaper, either their own website or the ones I’ve mentioned above.

Family of 4 I wouldn’t bother with a villa, you’ll be out a lot and they tend to be a bit further out.

If you want to avoid hiring a car then stay at Disney or one of the hotels in the Disney area.

I really liked Wyndham Bonnet creek as 2 bed apartments, loads of pools and very close to Disney.

Explore these too: What are your favorite things to do/drive to from central Florida (Orlando area) in December?

Look around Disney springs, can’t go wrong there.

We love Caribe Royale.

They have villas and regular rooms which have a separate seating area/tv so it’s almost like a mini villa with no kitchen haha we stayed in a super good villa last year when we went, I’ll try and find the name of the hotel as I can’t remember now, but it was extremely reasonable for the size of villa we got, we were shocked!

If you want to do parks and beach, I would do a multi-stay trip. Some time at hotels near the park and then maybe a villa near the beach to relax at the end.

We did three weeks and stayed at Disney na diniversal hotels, the free thansport options meant we could come and go from the hotel as often as we liked.

If you do a villa, you can get them nearby but lose a lot of your day travelling. Just getting from the car park to the parks can take a huge chunk of your day.

Villas tend to be nearer to Disney, we like high grove/Windsor hills that way on, universal is more built up so more hotels.

Beach wise you’d be better doing a split stay, so maybe 10/14 nights in Orlando and a few more at the beach, we prefer the west side(Clearwater/st Pete) compared to the east side(cocoa beach/Daytona)

Basketball wise Orlando magic play at the anyway centre which is central Orlando.

Also, check out: We are flying with Turkish Airlines from the USA to Athens and back –But..

We originally booked a villa but due to the cost of car hire and parking we changed to stay on site at Disney. My first question would be how long are you planning on going for? If 2+ weeks then I would look at doing a split stay. Disney/universal.

We did the whole time in Disney but didn’t go to universal. It was the best decision we made for us. Transport from the Disney hotels was amazing. Everything else we could just get an Uber to. Depending on time of year as well will depend on what you can fit in. The hotter months, Disney can take a long time to complete. We did 2 weeks and still didn’t feel like enough. Feel free to PM me if you need any information xx

Have you considered a split stay? We did 3 weeks out there this summer, and stayed 5 nights at the beach, 9 nights at Disney and 7 nights at Universal. Disney and Universal are around 25 mins from each other, and like others have said, the beaches are around 1-1.5 hours away from these areas.

We book everything separate, flights with BA and hotels direct.

We’ve been in August 3 times now. It’s really hot, and there’s daily thunder/lightning and rain, and of course the risk of hurricanes. Parks are much less busy though, esp at the end of August.
