Family member applied to renew kids passport for her 6 year old.

The person confirming identity was director of company family friend known them ages.

Application got rejected saying someone else must countersign.

Asked another friend insurance agent, got rejected instantly.

When called passport office they just said we don't know why it's rejected, it doesn't say.

Anyone had similar experiences?

Any advice will be welcome.

She is just a single stay at home mum , she doesn't know loads of proffesionals as listed on Gov website :ugeek:

Also moved year ago so teachers nor known her long enough..

I used my son's childminder for mine, I'll be using hers for my partners renewal and both kids first passports.

Nurses or health professionals can countersign. Is it the identity which is failing rather than the photograph.

Yes, I countersigned one friend all went through fine. Few months later went to do my other friend and rejected. Submitted again making sure I put my job title exactly the same and still rejected.

Passport office couldn’t give a reason.

Very frustrating.

Don't miss: Major dropped ball: we go on holiday on Saturday, and forgot to check daughter’s passport expiry date

I’ve just used a friend lol.. and I’ve also signed for a child’s passport and I don’t have a professional job or anything, I’m just her neighbor

I had one of my children rejected and the other went though using the same person.

I've heard of it happening a lot to others too.

I don't know if in my case it's because it was the same person doing both children at the same time but again I've heard it happening of done at separate times.

I found someone else, and it went through fine.

Explore these too: We are married and the children have my surname. Will there be any problems at passport control?

How bizarre, I recently counter signed for a friend's 2 kids I was convinced it would get rejected as I'm just a care/support worker but she messaged the other fay to day it had been accepted.

I was adamant it would be rejected as my job was on the list.

I signed for my friends twins (Company Director) one came back ok, the other didn’t, I filled out the rejected one again, exactly the same, and that time it came back ok  so maybe get the original person to try again.

I don’t think it’s ’who’ completes the forms, I think it’s just computer error sometimes.

Very frustrating.

We used the same Mortgage Broker for both my kids and one child was accepted and the other was rejected

Think it must depend who you get on the day.

Civil servants, teachers, police.

All online now through the gov. UK website/app.

I did one recently and was asked how long they I have known the child, confirming details about them.
