Just after abit of help.. our daughter is off to New York on her school trip. We didn't want to give her all dollars (just incase) wanted to put some on her bank card? I have never been. Is there charges using your bank card there? Would a travel card be a better rate?
Any advice is much appericated.
TIA
Is there charges using your bank card in New York?
When my daughter went to Switzerland with guides I got her a post office travel card in my name and I had app on my phone so could keep a check on spending and top up easily if needed. When she came we were due to go on holiday as a family and I easily transferred the Switzerland francs to Euros and then when we came into English money which I withdrew at a cash machine.
She could use it as a contact less card and with draw money for a small fee which was the same amount regardless of amount withdrawn x

I've got a Chase card that we use abroad with no charges and no problems.
App is easy to use and shows your transactions very quickly so you can stay on top of spending.
Chase is an American bank too.

Yes extortionate costs to use a normal card. Plenty of currency cards can get in advance that can use at ATM free of charge.
I'm not sure how old she is, but I have a Chase card.
It's a debit card but there's no charges or fees for spending abroad and you get cashback on purchases! I originally got it for travelling to Mauritius last year and only used it for spending money but now I use it for most of my shopping due to the cashback.
