I am planning to book my longhaul flight home, but am nervous about spending $1000 through a third party app.
& as a follow up question, are there any booking websites that skyscanner directs you to that you’ve had bad experiences with? or good experiences?
Has anybody had any negative experiences booking with Skyscanner?
I use Skyscanner to check the best flight deals and then go directly to the airline to actually book my flights.
You don’t actually book through Skyscanner, it links you to sites that give you the deal. It’s a search platform.
Skyscanner sent me to Trip. com who told me I wasn't entitled to a refund after my flight times were changed but when I went on the airline website direct, it turned out that I was.
I have also used Kiwi, but had no issues with them.

Skyscanner is only helping you finding great deals. You decide of the links they provided you.
It's always better to booked with flights company.

Safest option is to book directly with the airline.
Though it’s never happened to me using a third party I have heard that if you miss the connection even if it’s the airlines flight it’s hard to get it sorted because of the third party.
I’d say if it’s a long haul flight over $1000 go straight to the airline, it’s not worth the risk using a third party.
Explore these too: I guess I'm worried I'll book a nice hotel but be in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do

Why? You're paying with a credit card (almost always) and the credit card has guarantees ... make it better, pay with an Amex card... any issues and the concierge service fixes it for you after one 5 minute call and never being placed on hold.
