The most common way I've heard is clicking.

click, clock, click, clock.

If it’s on a surface that creates a deeper noise (like wood, or perhaps tile floor). Click clack or tip tap works for concrete or other thick floorings.

The sharp click-clack of high heels on tile.
The tap of stilettos on the hardwood floor.
The rhythmic clatter of her heels filled the room.
Like the steady beat of a metronome, her high heels echoed through the hall.

The sound of her heels stepping on his groin was completely drowned out by his screams.

Different heel, different person, different surface, different sounds. Anything from a drummer tapping the rim of a snare to a Clydesdale clopping down a cobblestone street...

Depends on who is hearing it. As a woman who wears different heels, stiletto heels are different from a chunky heel, which is different from a wedge. Don’t say what the sound is, let the reader create it.

Also be specific with surface and speed.

“The sound of her stilettos on the wet pavement, as she ran from the pounding rain…” That’s a different sound of a stiletto in an empty tiled enclosed hallway.

It depends what type of high heels she is wearing and how old she is. What I mean is usually a young girl or woman will wear either thick square heels or thin fancy heels. A younger woman will walk more gracefully to try to look like a lady or try to look sexy, maybe even with a lighter walk. This sound should be click click click either in a fast pace or a slow sexy pace.

An older woman such as a grandmother or school teacher will wear more conservative heals and walk heavier. They're used to walking up and down hallways or have difficulties walking because of their age. This sound should be clap clap clap or clunk clunk clunk. It sounds more like somebody's taking a piece of 2x4 wood and tapping it on a tile floor.

Well, I always heard they sound like clickety-clack and tapping.

But I was wearing them this morning and I am going to blame it on wrenching my back over the week, but sounded a lot more like throwing heavy textbooks from the college of law down the stairs.
